During a speech to Congress, US President Joe Biden referred to Russia's special operation in Ukraine.
“The United States stands with the Ukrainian people,” he said, noting that they and their allies are imposing strong economic sanctions on the Russian President.
Biden said that from today they will close the airspace for all flights from Russia.
According to Biden, the United States supports Ukraine. He specified that it is about economic, humanitarian and military assistance.
“Our troops will not fight in Ukraine, but I have made crystal clear the United States and our allies will defend every inch of territory of NATO countries with the full force of our collective power,” he said, noting that the coming days will be difficult for Ukrainians.
Biden said US authorities were blocking airspace for Russian planes. Washington and its allies could drop additional oil reserves from strategic reserves if necessary, and the US Department of Justice is setting up a special task force to "investigate the crimes of Russian oligarchs."
