During the Parliament-Government question-and-answer session, the Secretary of Armenian Parliament’s ‘Armenia’ faction Artsvik Minasyan asked Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan what assistance Armenia provides to the Armenians in Ukraine, what steps are taken to return them to Armenia.
“In the light of the battles in Ukraine, many of our compatriots intend to try to leave the zone of operations, and when we say ‘our compatriots’, we mean both the citizens of Armenia and the citizens of other countries who are our compatriots.
Until today, our embassy in Kyiv continued to work with its entire staff. They received about 1500 calls, I can say that, of course, in the case of this large number, there will be citizens who tried to contact, but did not succeed. That is why a hotline has been established at Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
We have also negotiated and agreed with the countries bordering Ukraine on the western side: Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Moldova, Hungary. You know for sure that our diplomatic relations with Hungary are suspended, but I must say that in their honor they do everything to support. From where we have embassies, diplomats have been sent to cities bordering Ukraine. The diplomats have a task to support the citizens of Armenia crossing the border as much as possible, to organize their return to Armenia,” Mirzoyan said.
The Foreign Minister also added that Armenia is ready to provide assistance not only to Armenians in Ukraine, but also to other refugees.
