The members of the Armenian Parliament’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs observed a minute of silence in memory of the innocent victims of the Sumgait massacre.
"What happened in Sumgait was the first step towards creating an anti-Armenian atmosphere in Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, this act was not strongly condemned by the international community. Nevertheless, our memory is always fresh.
This is one of those events where, under the influence of years, the pain does not subside, we continue to remember the victims of that tragedy on a daily basis. In any case, we must realize that the anti-Armenian actions must be unanimously condemned by the international community," said Vladimir Vardanyan, Chairman of the Committee.
