US President Joe Biden instructed the State Department to allocate $600 million to support Ukraine. Including 350 million of this amount will go to the needs of the country's defense, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the White House statement.
It is noted that the head of the American state issued a memorandum on the provision of immediate military assistance to Kiev. “Give the Secretary of State the following powers… to provide immediate military assistance to Ukraine,” the document states.
As part of his powers, the head of the State Department must determine whether it is in the interests of the United States to provide $250 million in gratuitous support to Kyiv. Biden instructed to send another 350 million to defense items and services of the War Department.
Earlier it became known that the White House requested $6.4 billion from the US Congress to help Ukraine, other countries, and also for the needs of the Pentagon. It is noted that of this amount, the United States administration will direct 2.9 billion to provide humanitarian assistance to Kyiv and assistance in the field of security.
