Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan congratulated his new colleague of the Republic of Armenia, Kristine Grigoryan, on assuming the post.
“I congratulate the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia Kristine Grigoryan on assuming the post.
In this difficult period for Armenia and Artsakh, operative, people-centered and law-based activities by human rights institutions based on the most important principles of equality, impartiality, openness and transparency are extremely important.
The realities in which we live in Armenia and Artsakh force us to make greater efforts to record widespread violations of the rights of people living in Armenia and Artsakh, in particular, to inform international organizations and fight against them.
During the previous years, high-level institutional relations have been established between Artsakh's ombudsman's structures in Armenia, which, regardless of the change of the Defenders, have continued to develop and improve.
This cooperation was best manifested in 2016 and 2020, during the large-scale fact-finding work carried out by Azerbaijan during the aggressions against Artsakh, as well as in the form of exchanges of views on various issues in daily activities.
The professional and human qualities of the new Human Rights Defender Kristine Grigoryan and the effective work will be a new impetus to continue the established cooperation and to include new areas of cooperation.”
