Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is lying when he is talking about the readiness to discuss Ukraine’s neutral status. According to the Minister, the leader of Ukraine has missed the opportunity to negotiate around security. Earlier, during the regular video message, Zelenskyy announced that he is not afraid to negotiate with Moscow on Ukraine’s neutral status. But he asked, who will give security guarantees and what guarantees will that be.
Lavrov mentioned that Russia will negotiate when Ukraine’s armed forces lay down their weapons.
The Foreign Minister says that Russia does not consider the current authorities of Ukraine democratic. “Russia will secure Ukraine’s demilitarization and denationalization. We have suffered too much from Nazism, and the Ukrainian people have suffered too much to turn a blind eye to all this and take the issue not seriously”, Lavrov said.
