Russia recognized the independence of Donetsk and Lugansk. What is the position of the Armenian side on this issue? One of the journalists asked this question during the briefing with head of the Armenian Parliament’s delegation to the ‘Euronest’ Parliamentary Assembly Maria Karapetyan. According to another media outlet, an anti-Russian resolution was adopted at the ‘Euronest’ bureau meeting.
Maria Karapetyan first mentioned that she was in favor of peace, and then informed that a resolution was adopted at the bureau session yesterday, which she did not vote for.
Karapetyan, however, did not detail the content of the resolution, only mentioned that the content of the resolution will be edited by interested members of the bureau and will be published.
“I did not vote for the statement of the bureau, I abstained from voting. One of the questions of the political committee today was dedicated to the situation around Ukraine. I will reaffirm my position. My hope is that peace will be maintained, that through dialogue it will be possible to ease the tension,” said Karapetyan.
