Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which he discussed the recent developments in around the recognition of Donetsk and Lugansk independence by Russia and thanked him for supporting Kyiv’s position. Zelensky announced this on his Twitter microblog.
“Had a phone conversation with Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Expressed gratitude for supporting Ukrainian position on the latest provocative decisions of Russia. Also thanked for the support of the initiative to hold a summit of permanent members of the UN Security Council with the participation of Ukraine-Turkey-Germany,” the President of Ukraine wrote.
Earlier, Erdogan criticized Moscow's recognition of Donetsk and Lugansk. He called on the parties “not to violate international law and to maintain common sense.”
