The United States believes that the "Russian invasion" of Ukraine could begin at any time, including "in the next few hours." Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby on CNN announced this on Monday.
"We have been saying for a long time that the Russian invasion can start any day. It could be this day. We hope it will not happen, so we continue to use all diplomatic options," he said.
Kirby added that there is still time for diplomacy. "President Joe Biden once said yesterday that he was ready for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss a peaceful way to resolve the situation."
Spokesman for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov called the information about a possible Russian “invasion” of Ukraine empty and groundless.
