The Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council Armen Grigoryan met on Monday with Andrius Kubilius, a member of the European Parliament and Vice President of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.
The meeting was attended by Lithuanian Ambassador to Armenia Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė, the press service of the Security Council reported.
It said during the meeting, the sides exchanged views on regional and international security and stability issues. Grigoryan was said to speak about Armenia's positions on regional stability issues, the lasting settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the unblocking of all regional communications, as well as on the demarcation and delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
Grigoryan stressed the need for a comprehensive and lasting settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and presented humanitarian issues requiring urgent solutions.
In this context, he stressed the need for a speedy return of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages and other detainees held by Azerbaijan, as well as the preservation of the Armenian historical, cultural and religious heritage in the territories that have come under Azerbaijani control after the 2020 war in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
Kubilius highly assessed Armenia's democratic reforms and stressed that Lithuania is ready to expand the scope of bilateral cooperation and contribute to the deepening of Armenia-EU bilateral cooperation.
