Bringing the Alliance forces to a state of high alert is called a “defensive” measure that does not pose a threat to Russia, Perild reports.
Given the aggravation in the Donbass, NATO decided to increase the level of readiness of the military. About this on Friday, February 18, report sources of the German Dpa and the German Ministry of Defense.
We are talking about thousands of soldiers of the Alliance’s rapid reaction forces.
“They should be ready for redeployment not in 30 days, as usual, but in seven days,” the statement said.
NATO made this decision against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the Donbass, where the leaders of the “DPR” and “LPR” accused Ukraine of preparing a massive attack and shelling.
“Increased readiness for deployment allows NATO, in the event of further escalation from Russia, to guarantee appropriate reassurance, in particular to our Eastern European allies, that their territories are protected,” the German Defense Ministry explained.
Earlier, the NATO leadership increased the readiness of the Rapid Reaction Forces.
The Alliance is ready for all possible levels of protection.
