Russia has not received direct responses from the US and NATO to proposals for security guarantees. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, RIA News reports.
The head of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, is quite consistent in his approach to Moscow’s partners, who are now acting as opponents. The head of state bluntly raises questions and expects direct answers, Peskov stressed.
“And just as in 2007 he directly raised questions, so in 2022 he directly raised questions in the drafts of those two documents that were transferred to Washington and NATO. We have not received direct answers,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
According to Peskov, the West is trying to direct attention to secondary issues in order to avoid understanding issues that are critical for Russia. He expressed the view that Putin will stick to his position and insist that “existential issues” are not ignored or ignored.
February 12 Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden held telephone conversation in connection with the situation around Ukraine.
