US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that, despite speculation that an invasion would only happen after the Olympics, it could begin during the Games, NHK World-Japan News reports.
Russian officials have denied that they have any plans to invade. However, Sullivan warned Americans in Ukraine to evacuate as soon as they can, and he says an invasion would likely start with airstrikes and missile attacks.
He said the leaders will continue cooperation among themselves and various organizations, including the UN.
A Kremlin spokesperson has announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will talk on the phone with Biden on Saturday. Dmitry Peskov says the US initiated the call.
