Zbigniew Rau, Poland's foreign minister, who holds the rotating presidency of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on Friday (February 11) met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Reuters reports.
The two leaders met in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city that lies 42 km (26 miles) from the Russian border. "We discussed the worsening security situation around Ukraine," Rau told reporters after the meeting.
Zelensky flew to Kharkiv earlier on Friday to take part in the away session of the Ukrainian Security Council. Rau, originally scheduled to fly to Luhanska Stanitsa, a checkpoint on the contact line between Ukraine controlled territory and separatist-held Luhansk to meet members of SMM (Special Monitoring Mission) there had to cancel the trip due to bad weather conditions and met the OSCE observers in Kharkiv.
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, which includes Russia and Ukraine as well as NATO members, has monitored a conflict between Ukrainian forces and Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine's Donbass region since 2014.
