Sona Ghazaryan, member of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction of the National Assembly, referred to the recent statement of the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan and drew the attention of the international community to the issue.
On February 3, Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Anar Kerimov announced about the establishment of a working group to change the identity of the Armenian religious, historical and cultural monuments under the control of Azerbaijan.
"I want to appeal to our international community to say that this policy pursued by Azerbaijan is a challenge to the decision of the UN International Court of Justice of December 7, 2021 to apply urgent measures. Besides, I want to remind our EU partners that 2.1 billion Euros is directed to a country that not only stands out for its authoritarian regime, but also for its policy of vandalism against its neighbors and the destruction of our historical and cultural monuments.
Besides, I want to remind our international partners - it turns out that during the war, when our cultural monuments were bombed, hitting the Ghazanchetsots Church in Shushi twice was not an accident, as the representative of the authoritarian regime says, but a clear tactic to erase the Armenian trace,” Ghazaryan said.
In this case, according to Sona Ghazaryan, the question arises: whom and for what purpose are the EU funds directed?
