Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said on Saturday that he will not stay at the helm for more than two terms as stipulated by the country's constitution, urdupoint.com reports.
"I do not know how long I will be the president of Kazakhstan, but I absolutely know for sure that, in accordance with the constitution, no more than two terms.
That is, there will be no rewriting the laws, let alone the constitution," he said in an interview with Khabar 24 broadcaster.
There was no power-sharing bargaining between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and former head of state Nursultan Nazarbayev during the January protests in the country, Tokayev said.
“There was no bargaining. There was no talk of personal privilege. The only conversation - status in the Security Council. I said that I would now address the nation and say that I am the President of the Security Council. The issue was resolved quickly,” he said.
