The statement issued after January 14 meeting, which, by the way, was confirmed to be almost identical to the statement given by Turkey, said that Turkey set no precondition for starting or ending the process to normalize Armenia-Turkey relations, nor did the Armenian side, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said during the Parliament-Government question-and-answer session.
Mirzoyan added that the first meeting between the special representatives of Armenia and Turkey was of a cognitive nature.
There is an opinion that Ankara can link the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations with the "corridor" logic. Referring to this concern, Mirozoyan noted that there have been several publications that the issue of providing a corridor has really been raised among Turkish expert and parliamentary circles.
“Here again, we have repeatedly stated our position long before. We will not agree with any "corridor" logic. It is unacceptable for us. We are in favor of unblocking regional transport and economic communications; and we realize that as a result of this unblocking, Armenia will be able to use railways and roads through Azerbaijan, and in case of opening the Armenian-Turkish border - through Turkey, both Turkey and Azerbaijan should be able to use Armenian roads.
What is important for us here is the perception that any road used by a third party must be under the legislation of that country's sovereignty, that is, there can be no "corridor" through the territory of the Republic of Armenia. Also because there is one corridor in the November 9 statement, it is the Lachin corridor. All the rest of the roads are talked about as roads,” said Ararat Mirzoyan.
