Today, Armenia's Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe Arman Khachatryan met with CoE Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović.
Ambassador Khachatryan presented the agenda of the reforms implemented by the Government of Armenia in the field of protection of human rights and protection and promotion of fundamental freedoms as well as reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Armenia to continue this process.
The current cooperation between the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Armenia was discussed at the meeting, emphasizing the readiness to further expand it.
Ambassador Khachatryan also briefed the Council of Europe Commissioner on Human Rights on the humanitarian implications of Azerbaijan's military aggression against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), including the issue of repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees.
In this context, the Commissioner’s more active involvement in the protection of human rights and overcoming the humanitarian issues was highlighted.
