U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken condemned North Korea's recent ballistic missile launches, during a call with South Korea's Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong on Saturday. This is stated in a statement issued by the head of the press service of the State Department Ned Price.
Blinken added that the regime's action violates numerous UN Security Council resolutions.
He also stressed that the U.S. commitment to the defense of South Korea remains ironclad.
The two counterparts reaffirmed that their alliance is the "linchpin of peace, security, and prosperity in the indo-pacific region and beyond."
They also discussed the complete denuclearization and lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula, as well as the cooperation needed to end the COVID-19 pandemic.
