Azerbaijan supports the rapid normalization of the situation in Kazakhstan and the restoration of law in the country. This statement was made on January 11 by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at an extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of Turkic States in the online format, Azerbaijani media reports.
“Azerbaijan is deeply concerned about the current situation in fraternal Kazakhstan. It is especially regrettable that last week's events led to human casualties and injuries,” Bayramov said.
Azerbaijan supports the early normalization of the situation in Kazakhstan and the restoration of the rule of law. “There can be no justification for illegal use of force and violence which undermines public order and threatens fundamental human rights and civil liberties, and must be strongly condemned and rejected,” Bayramov added.
He expressed his conviction that Kazakhstan will emerge from the current situation without jeopardizing achievements of the independence period.
"The Organization of Turkic States has an important task to support our Kazakh brothers and sisters in these difficult times. We welcome the Declaration of January 6, 2022 which says that the Organization is ready to assist Kazakhstan in finding a way out of the current situation. We see this as the Organization's ability and determination to fulfill its obligations to member- and observer countries," Bayramov said.
“With that consideration, we support efforts to return to the political, social and economic development of Kazakhstan through normalizing the situation as soon as possible and continuing comprehensive reforms for the benefit of Kazakhstanis and the entire region,” Bayramov concluded.
