Doubts about the legitimacy of CSTO mission in Kazakhstan arise because of a lack of understanding of the situation, said Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, RIA Novosti reports.
"We already see questions about the legitimacy of the CSTO deployment. This is due to the lack of reliable information and misunderstanding of the whole situation,” Tokayev said at a special session of CSTO Collective Security Council.
In this way, the President of Kazakhstan responded to the statement of US Secretary of State Blinken, according to which the United States will demand an explanation from Kazakhstan for inviting CSTO peacekeepers.
“We have questions as to why the Kazakh government had to turn to the CSTO, where Russia dominates. Please clarify,” the diplomat said.
He also criticized the order of the President of Kazakhstan Tokayev not to hesitate to shoot at those who did not obey the order to surrender. “If this is a national policy, then I condemn that policy,” Blinken said.
