The protesters have broken into the city administration building in Kazakhstan’s Almaty and have started fire, the Zakon.kz news portal stated on Wednesday.
According to the source, they were armed with fittings, sticks and shields. The fire started from the eastern side of the building on the first floor.
Some witnesses told TASS that the protesters tried to storm the city administration building.
Some five emergency medical workers have been injured as a result of illegal actions by protesters in Kazakhstan’s Almaty, the regional health ministry stated on Wednesday.
"As a result of illegal actions, as many as five ambulance workers have received injuries, including two drivers and three doctors. They were rushed to the city hospitals," the statement reads.
The health ministry also reported that the protesters destroyed two ambulances.
A city prosecutor's office building is on fire in Almaty, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
Earlier, smoke was coming from the Auezov district branch of the Nur Otan Party in Almaty. In addition, nearly three thousand protesters with rubber batons stormed the Almaty akimat, with police defending themselves with stun grenades.
