Iran's Ambassador in Moscow Kazem Jalali has said that the upcoming visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Russia will be a turning point in historical relations between the two countries, ILNA reports.
Such a visit is very important regarding international developments and regional issues and that is why enemies try to damage this travel or the aims of it, the ambassador noted.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic of Iran as an effective country in the region enjoys independent foreign policy, Jalali added.
Elaborating on the Moscow visit of the president, the ambassador said that signing document on comprehensive cooperation between the two countries is not planned.
He went on to say that draft of the comprehensive cooperation has been prepared by Iran, but signing it needs time because the Russian side should also give opinion about it.
As the ambassador underlined that promotion of relations with neighbors is among the main principles of Raisi's administration.
In Moscow, Iranian president will meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Jalali said, adding that the meeting will focus on international, regional, and bilateral issues.
According to early reports, President Raisi will leave for Russia in coming days, most probably on January 19.
