Russia is ready to become a mediator between Armenia and Turkey in the dialogue on the normalization of relations. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko stated this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"Normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations would undoubtedly contribute to the improvement of the general situation in the region. From this point of view, we welcome the willingness to launch a bilateral dialogue, actively demonstrated by Ankara and Yerevan recently. We note with satisfaction their appointment of special envoys to discuss the difficult issue of normalization,” Rudenko said.
According to him, Moscow is “ready to provide mediation assistance in any form.”
Rudenko stressed that the Russian side considers it important to refuse to put forward preconditions, to focus on mutually acceptable topics and reciprocal steps that would lead to the gradual formation of an atmosphere of trust and good-neighborliness.
