A new automobile tunnel running to the South Caucasus will be inaugurated in eastern Turkey on Wednesday. It will become a new transport artery between the country and the South Caucasus states, Anadolu reports.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will address the participants in the opening ceremony of the 2,246-meter Pirinkayalar tunnel connecting the Uzundere district of Erzurum province with the city of Artvin.
The new tunnel will become an essential link in the route towards the border between Turkey and Georgia. It will significantly simplify cargo transportation through the mountainous regions of northeastern Anatolia.
