On December 25, Hrachya Sargsyan was sworn in as the new Mayor of Yerevan in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, representatives of the executive and legislative bodies, members of the City Council.
Takin up the office, the Mayor pledged to abide by the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia, the decisions of the City Council, to perform the duties of the Mayor honestly and faithfully, to serve for the sake of Yerevan’s prosperity, to act for the benefit of its residents.
Sargsyan was then presented with the mayoral chain of office.
Mayor Sargsyan vowed to employ effective management, innovative approaches and everyday dedicated work in governing the city and developing its infrastructures.
The inauguration comes days after Mayor Hayk Marutyan was ousted by the City Council’s ruling bloc with a no-confidence vote.
