The Russian group of troops stationed in Syria is the guarantor of the preservation of peace in this country, as well as the personnel of the Russian Armed Forces in Nagorno-Karabakh, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Wednesday, TASS reports.
"For more than a year, Russian peacekeepers have been providing conditions for establishing a peaceful life in Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent regions, helping to restore relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. At the moment, not a single serious incident has occurred. Also, the Russian group of forces continues to act as a guarantor of the preservation of peace in Syria,” said the Minister at a plenary meeting of the Public Council under the Russian Defense Ministry.
In particular, he said that since the beginning of the year, Russian military personnel have carried out 348 humanitarian actions in Syria, distributed more than 650 tons of food and basic necessities.
