White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan explained that the administration of US President Joe Biden is seeking to achieve gradual progress on the North Korea issue.
Sullivan said that the Barack Obama administration was dealing with North Korea on the basis of “nothing for nothing,” while the administration of Donald Trump was seeking to achieve a grand bargain according to the principle of “all for all.”
“The core and goal of our diplomacy is to be between these two points, to be prepared for diplomacy to make gradual progress in moving to the ultimate goal, which is the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” he added.
Sullivan admitted that the Biden administration was unable to establish the diplomatic process with Pyongyang.
He added that Washington has informed North Korea of its readiness for such action, adding that in the absence of any response from North Korea, Washington will continue efforts for all countries to abide by the sanctions regime against Pyongyang.
