Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan continues to meet with the heads and representatives of delegations of other countries within the framework of his participation in the 9th session of the Conference of the Member States of the Convention against Corruption.
On December 15, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Arthur Davtyan met with the Minister of Justice of the Islamic Republic of Iran Amir Hossein Rahimi in Sharm El Sheikh. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Egypt Hrachya Poladyan also attended the meeting.
The parties discussed current issues of legal cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
Both sides praised the recent dynamics of the development of closer relations between Armenia’s and Iran’s Prosecutor's Offices, the continuous growth of the level of mutual trust and cooperation, as evidenced by the effective reciprocal visits of the Prosecutors General of the Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In addition, issues of mutual criminal nature are raised based on respect for the domestic law of the two countries, legal security, security of their citizens in the territory of each other in the context of strengthening economic, cultural and humanitarian ties and rights.
The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, in particular, expressed satisfaction with the direct intervention of the Prosecutor General of Iran in providing legal assistance in criminal cases on the provision of mediations by the competent authorities of Armenia by the competent authorities of Iran.
Arthur Davtyan and Amir Hossein Rahimi expressed concern over the security situation in the region, the challenges and obstacles facing the protection of the vital rights of the people of the region suffering from the ongoing tensions.
Ensuring local stability and peace was considered a priority, and the parties reaffirmed their principled approach to preventing the region from international terrorism and preventing opposing tendencies. The need to combine efforts in this direction, to show determination in the fight against terrorism, as well as other crimes of a transnational nature, and to expand cooperation on both bilateral and multilateral levels, was reiterated.
