Today, the leaders of the EU, of the EU member states and of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries will meet for the sixth Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels.
Charles Michel, President of the European Council, will chair the meeting. President Michel and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, will represent the EU.
The Eastern partners present at the summit will comprise Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. Belarus has suspended its participation in the Eastern Partnership but the EU continues to cooperate with the people of Belarus.
The summit will reaffirm and reinforce the joint commitment to foster stability and cooperation, to pursue necessary reforms, to define common future priorities, and to mobilise resources to meet the major challenges at hand.
The Summit will focus on support to five key areas – economy, governance, the environment, digital and society. These priorities build on the past achievements of the European Neighbourhood instrument, taking into account new challenges and opportunities – notably the green and digital transition, as well as the post-pandemic recovery.
The meeting will start at 16.00 and will be followed by a press conference.
