The European Union, together with the United States and Great Britain, is considering new sanctions against Russia, but so far, no concrete decisions have been made. The statement came from High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday.
According to him, the situation in the Ukraine and the accusations against Russia of accumulating military forces near the Ukrainian border will become one of the main topics of the ministerial meeting.
While Brussels, Washington and London are considering new sanctions, Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn said that the Ukrainian crisis can only be resolved through diplomacy based on the Minsk agreements.
“I do not think we can impose new sanctions every week. I do not think it can improve the world. Sanctions against Russia continue to apply. We must enter into a dialogue instead of military threats,” he said.
