On December 2, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan received Lynne Tracy, the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia.
Ambassador Tracy congratulated Suren Papikyan on assuming the position of the defense minister and wished further success.
During the meeting, issues of border situation and security were discussed. The Defense Minister presented the current situation on the border zone and the approaches of the Armenian side for a solution.
The Ambassador, in her turn mentioned that the American side supports the weakening of the tension and the peaceful settlement of the issues, emphasizing the role of the US within the OSCE Minsk Group.
The interlocutors also discussed a number of issues related to Armenian-American cooperation in the defense field.
