Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko and Italian Ambassador to Russia Giorgio Starace expressed interest in a speedy settlement of the situation in the South Caucasus, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
“Both sides expressed interest in stabilizing the situation in the South Caucasus as soon as possible in order to ensure the security and economic development of the region,” the statement reads.
A detailed exchange of views on the situation in the South Caucasus took place in the context of the November 26 talks in Sochi between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The Rudenko-Starace meeting took place on the initiative of the Italian side.
