Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received heads of Kapan, Meghri, Tegh, Tatev, Gorayk communities, acting head of Sisian community, as well as the deputy heads of Goris and Kajaran communities of Syunik Province.
Before starting the discussion of issues relating to the province, Pashinyan congratulated all the newly elected community heads. “I am happy to record that our public’s trust towards the institute of elections is consistently and constantly increasing. This has been the key commitment of our political team and Government, and we will continue this path.
Our electoral system, of course, is not perfect, there is no perfect electoral system in the world, but it’s important to record that a citizen should be confident that his choice is decisive. No matter how much the leadership will like it, how much the opposition will like it, the people must know that they are a decisive force, and this is a very important factor”, Nikol Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of holding meetings in that format, also in the context of community enlargement process. “We may think of that generalized format, so that we could carry out the cooperation between the Government and the institute of local self-government more systematized”, Prime Minister Pashinyan said.
Referring to the problems of Syunik Province, Nikol Pashinyan noted that they are under everyday focus of the Government. In this regard, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of properly conducting the process of providing information from the official, original source. “It’s necessary to provide complete information about what is happening, why it is happening, what to expect and what not to expect. You know that, unfortunately, not always right information is being circulated in the information field. We all must be able to clearly assess the situations and differentiate fake news from true news”, the PM emphasized, adding that in general, in various domestic and external issues, all state and self-government bodies of Armenia must act concurrently, because it is about the protection of state and national interests.
Thereafter, the meeting participants discussed the cooperation between the Government and the local self-government bodies, the process of programs being carried out by the Government in the communities of Syunik, including aimed at infrastructure improvement and development. The PM also touched upon the possibilities of unblocking the economic and transportation communications in the region, as well as conducting the demarcation and delimitation of borders.
