The important subtlety is that we will try not to mix the agendas discussed in different formats, I think that, yes, one of the issues discussed in Brussels will be the humanitarian issues, including the issue of captives. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said this answering the question about the expectations from his meeting with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Brussels on December 15.
The Prime Minister does not think that it is right to form expectations from every specific meeting, negative or positive.
“One should not expect such fast results. The problem is that, yes, there is a situation, there is tension in our region, and to overcome that tension, yes, we must negotiate, use the opportunities of negotiations. But I say again, it is very important not to create inside or outside Armenia overrated positive or overrated solutions to those negotiations, or an attempt to create apocalyptic moods around it. I think this is a very important principle, we will use the platforms,” Nikol Pashinyan said, reminding that this week, on November 26, a meeting will be held in Sochi through the mediation of the Russian President.
“The talks on that meeting did not start yesterday, they are talks started earlier, I think that the news about the agreements of such meetings should find a positive response,” the Prime Minister added.
As for establishing a direct connection between the defense ministers of the two countries, Nikol Pashinyan said that its purpose is to prevent incidents.
“Of course, time will show how effective it will be, but the fact itself must be considered very important. I myself have agreed to establish such a connection, and we must hope that this connection will contribute to the establishment of stability in the region,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
