After the November 16 battles, official Baku continues its aggressive rhetoric within the framework of ‘corridor’ logic. There are also reports from various sources about the accumulation of enemy military equipment on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. What effect can the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan on December 15 have on the border situation? Is there a danger of a new war? Answering the question of the Public TV journalist, the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.
“I think that, eventually, Azerbaijan's actions should be one of the important subjects of our diplomatic and foreign policy. At the recent Security Council session, I stated that Azerbaijan has adopted a policy of continuous aggression against Armenia. I think that this topic should be in the focus of discussion of the international community.
After the war, Azerbaijan, being in the post-war euphoria, tries to exercise, the so-called, right of the war winner, something that does not exist in the modern world. We are very patiently, persistently trying to make every constructive effort to calm the situation in the region, but, eventually, I think we should all state that the member of the international community, nevertheless, must have a certain limit, the international community must clearly monitor that limit, otherwise a process of destruction of international relations takes place,” Pashinyan said.
According to Pashinyan, Azerbaijan obviously shows territorial ambitions towards Armenia.
“What does Zangezur corridor mean? What does Eastern Zangezur mean? Who invents those terms? What does it mean? What does ‘corridor logic’ mean? We have stated before, and now we declare that we have not discussed the issue of ‘corridor’ logic, we do not discuss, we will not discuss, which does not mean that we somehow refuse the agenda of opening regional communications.
I cannot hide, I must directly say that, on the contrary, Armenia may be more interested in opening regional communications. In my opinion, Azerbaijan is developing the ‘corridor’ logic in order to remove the issue of opening regional communications from the agenda. But we will do everything to prevent Azerbaijan from removing the issue of regional communications from the agenda,” Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister stated that what Azerbaijan is doing is attacking the sovereignty, statehood, independence and democracy of the Republic of Armenia with the support of the countries encouraging it.
“We are going to pursue this issue on all possible international platforms,” Pashinyan said.
To the question of ‘Lurer’, is there a danger of war, the Prime Minister answered․
“Azerbaijan has an aggressive behavior that must be curbed, including through international leverage. At the same time, I want to say that we do not avoid and will not avoid direct contacts with Azerbaijan. I instructed the Minister of Defense to actively use this communication, to exchange information about ceasefire violations by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces with the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, suggesting that the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan do the same, so that we can see who responds how. It will become more obvious who is more interested in provocations.”
