The administration of Biden is getting ready for holding the Democracy Summit, which is the first of its kind. It implies an assembly of the representatives of governments, political society and private sector, aimed at promoting joint work for democratic renewal around the world. Uzra Zeya, the Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights announced during the briefing for the foreign media.
“Through this process, we strive to strengthen the democratic institutions, honestly face the challenges of democracy and eliminate the threats of our common values”, said Zeya.
Answering the question of an Azerbaijani media about Azerbaijan not being invited to the summit, Zeya mentioned that “US invited traditional and developing democracies”.
“US invites different regional traditional and developing democracies, due to the efforts of which we can have a more fair and peaceful world”, announced the US Under Secretary, adding that US intends to carry out work in the direction of democratic advancement both within and outside this conference.
Reminding that Armenia got a participation invitation to the “Summit for Democracy”.
