In all the existing negotiation content, the goal of the negotiation process is to sign a peace treaty. It is strange for me that Azerbaijan keeps saying that they constantly offer Armenia to sign a peace treaty, but there is no response from Armenia. There is not only a response from Armenia. We have talked about it dozens of times. And it is not Azerbaijan’s initiative. When we talk about the full resumption of the negotiation process, when we are involved in the negotiation process, our goal is to sign a peace treaty.
Answering the question of Lena Nazaryan, member of the NA ‘Civil Contract’ faction, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this during the NA-Government question-and-answer session, noting that it should be preceded by the agreement of the text of the peace agreement.
“It is a rather extensive work, and we have never refused to do that work, we have always expressed readiness, and we consider it our agenda,” Pashinyan said.
Lena Nazaryan also inquired about the demarcation process.
“Demarcation of borders and delimitation is on our agenda, and we have recorded it in the Government’s program. Therefore, if Azerbaijan also accepts that agenda, it is necessary to understand what hinders it. Back in May, I made an announcement that a document was on the table, which I was going to sign. Why was that document not signed, because it did not reach the destination of the signing proposal? During this period, there were two proposals, which referred to the process of demarcation of borders, and we, in fact, agreed to that proposal,” Pashinyan said.
