Armen Khachatryan, member of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction, called on Armenia's partners, allies and states with which Armenia has relevant agreements to take immediate steps to prevent these battles.
“Recently, we have witnessed a process of abortion of peace processes by Azerbaijan, which was initially manifested by the placement of an allegedly customs base on the Vorotan section of the Goris-Kapan road.
Seeing that our people are resisting and trying to solve the problems in another way, on November 16, the same base was set up on the Kapan-Chakaten road, cutting the Chakaten connection with other villages. And seeing that this also does not force us to take the actions they want, today Azerbaijan has already resorted to military aggression.
At the moment, local battles are taking place within the borders of Armenia, which have been unleashed by Azerbaijan. The hostilities may be local in nature, but there is a high probability that it could quickly escalate to such an extent that serious security problems arise in the region,” Khachatryan said.
