Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh has expressed concern over new clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan and called on Yerevan and Baku to show restraint and avoid escalating the situation, Iranian media reported.
The speaker stressed the need to respect the internationally recognized borders of the two countries and called on the parties to resolve their differences through dialogue and peace.
Khatibzadeh described the current tense situation as "dangerous" for the gradual process of achieving peace and development in the region.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran, as before, is ready to assist the parties in resolving the conflict and establishing stability and security in the region,” Khatibzadeh said.
