On November 16, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi.
Armenia’s Foreign Minister and the EU Commissioner exchanged views on the further development of Armenia-EU relations, including sectoral cooperation with the European Union.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to the package of assistance under the EU economic-investment plan and further effective cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership guidelines.
Issues of regional security and stability were also discussed during the meeting.
Minister Mirzoyan noted that a long-lasting and comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is possible only under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.
Reference was made to the humanitarian issues created by Azerbaijan due to the aggression against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). In this context, Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the need for unconditional and speedy repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages and other detainees.
