Narek Mkrtchyan, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs received Californian State Senator Anthony Portantino and Zareh Sinanyan, the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of Armenian Republic.
During the meeting, the implemented programs for the people with disabilities, the measures of assistance provided to the citizens displaced from Artsakh, a number of issues related to developing social worker institution were discussed, the importance of research and implementation of the American experience were emphasized.
Anthony Portantino was interested in implemented reforms and priorities in the field of social defense, particularly the rehabilitation services provided to the people with disabilities, the work in the direction of developing the foster care institution.
Valuing the quality improvement of the services provided to people with disabilities, Narek Mkrtchyan mentioned that after the 2020 war, the provided services to the injured servicemen during the military activities became a priority, the versatile assessment of their needs and securing them with prostheses of international standards.
During the meeting, the reforms implemented in the field of the defense of the children rights was stressed.
