Within the framework of the 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference, a high-level global meeting on Education kicked off on November 10 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, during which the issues of world education will be discussed.
The agenda of the meeting includes issues on investment in education, mechanisms for cooperation in global education, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), monitoring of commitments in this regard, as well as education funding. During the meeting, it is planned to adopt the ‘Paris Declaration’, which will emphasize the restoration of the commitment to invest in education, the promotion of progress towards the Sustainable Development Goal 4.
Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Karen Trchunyan is participating in the 41st session of UNESCO as a representative of the Republic of Armenia. Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan will make an online speech at the meeting.
In his speech, the Minister will highlight education as a powerful tool for achieving all the goals of sustainable development, and will refer to the steps taken by Armenia to achieve sustainable goals during the crisis created by the COVID-19. Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan will also draw the participants' attention to the humanitarian issue created by the war unleashed last year against the Artsakh Republic (Nagorno-Karabakh) and the issue of exercising the right to education in those conditions.
