On November 8, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Eduard Aghajanyan met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Armenia John Gallagher.
Welcoming the Ambassador in parliament, the Committee Chair has noted that the legislative and executive bodies extremely highlight the expansion and deepening of the relations with Great Britain. Being the Head of Armenia-Great Britain Friendship Group, Eduard Aghajanyan underlined the necessity of cooperation between the Committees of the two countries’ parliaments.
The Ambassador thanked the Committee Chair for the warm reception, congratulating him on being elected Head of the Friendship Group. He also emphasized the cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
Touching upon a number of international programmes being carried out in Armenia, the Committee Chair mentioned with satisfaction the fact of the involvement of Great Britain in them.
The sides particularly referred to the programme the UNDP ‘Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia’ and the full implementation of Armenia-Council of Europe 2019-2022 Action Plan.
Speaking about the implementation of the agreements reached by November 9 trilateral statement, as well as about the establishment of long-lasting peace in the region, Eduard Aghajanyan related to the provocations by Azerbaijan and violations of the provisions of the trilateral statement. He particularly noted that the most important issue on the agenda remains the return of Armenian prisoners of war and the captives to the Motherland.
