One of the key elements of the joint work on the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, as well as the settlement of the situation in the South Caucasus, is the work of a trilateral working group co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Foreign Ministry of Russia issued a statement on the one-year anniversary of signing of the November 9, 2020 trilateral statement by heads of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
It is noted that as a result of eight meetings with this format, a report was presented, which describes clear railway-road routes to restore the connection between Armenia and Azerbaijan, leading to transport links to neighboring countries, which will increase the transit attractiveness of the region and attract additional investment. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, thus, additional prospects for the realization of the North-South international pulse appear for Russia and Armenia.
“In light of the situation around the, so-called, ‘Zangezur Corridor’, which is exaggerated in the media, it is especially important that all participants in the trilateral working group have agreed that all unblocked and newly created transport routes will function based on the respect of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of those states through which they pass,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
