The European Court of Human Rights published minutes ago the verdicts of the cases from 2014, residents captured and tortured by Azerbaijan, Mamikon Khojoyan, the resident of Tavush province, Verin Karmiraghbyur village and Karen Petrosyan, the resident of the Chinari village.
European Court recognized that Baku violated the right to life of Armenian captives, the refraining from torture and discrimination, the rights to freedom, personal immunity.
The ECHR obliged Baku to pay 40 thousand euros for each case.
Mamikon Khojoyan (77 years old) was captured in 2014, January, after two months, on March 4, he returned to Armenia and after some time died.
The forensic examination showed that the reason of Khojoyan’s death was the general intoxication of the organism.
Karen Petrosyan got lost in August 7, 2014, crossed the border and appeared in an Azerbaijani village. After a short time, the Azerbaijani authorities arrested him and the next day reported that he was dead because of a heart attack.
Baku transferred the remains of Karen Petrosyan on October, 2014, trying to hide the traces of violence.
