We support the idea of the Turkish and Azerbaijani presidents of creating a ‘3 + 3’ consultative, regional mechanism, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a weekly briefing.
“We are talking about the neighbors of the South Caucasus countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Turkey, and Iran. We think that the time has come to bring these programs to a practical level,” Zakharova said.
She stressed that the development of multilateral regional cooperation is in the interests of all future participants in this format.
“In our opinion, its launch will contribute to the increase of trust in interstate relations, the settlement of existing conflicts, and the discovery of the economic and transport potential of the region. There are many questions, the existing problems, in the form of the pandemic situation, have new nuances. They also put new emphasis. Therefore, the format can offer solutions to both old problems and new challenges,” the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman concluded.
