On November 03, the Chairman of State Revenue Committee of Armenia Rustam Badasyan received the Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin.
During the meeting, issues related to the implementation of the modernization program of the Meghri customs point of the Southern Customs Department of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia with the support of EU and the financing of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development were discussed.
The possibilities of initiating similar programs aimed at the modernization of other SRC infrastructures within the framework of the EU support investment package were also touched upon.
The parties stressed the need for active use of EU technical assistance tools (Twinning, TAEIX) in the context of customs and tax administration reforms, as well as consideration of possible EU assistance in the establishment of customs laboratories.
The issues related to the assumption of observer status by the Republic of Armenia in the working group of the Joint Transit Convention and the necessary steps in that direction were discussed.
The parties expressed readiness to take active steps both to further expand cooperation and to ensure the continuation of reforms within its framework.
