From November 3, Rospotrebnadzor suspended the import of lemons, expressed at one of the enterprises in the city of Tarsus in the south of the central part of Turkey, according to the agency’s website.
The reason was the excess of the permissible level of the pesticide. Lemons already imported into Russia will be withdrawn from circulation.
“The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare informs about the detection of fresh lemons in food products, violations of mandatory legal requirements (residual amounts of Chlorpyrifos pesticide, concentration which exceeds the maximum allowable level).
From November 3, 2021, the import of the specified food products to the territory of the Russian Federation is suspended,” the ministry said.
On October 28, the service banned the import of tangerines from one of the Turkish companies – the same pesticide was also found on them in a concentration exceeding.
