On November 01, Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to the Republic of Armenia Kirsti Narinen (Residence: Helsinki).
Welcoming the Ambassador, Vahagn Khachaturyan presented the priorities of Armenia’s Government in the sphere of high-tech industry, the main directions of the Ministry's activity and the implemented programs. Taking into account Finland’s rich experience in the field of information technologies, telecommunications and communication, the Minister emphasized the cooperation with Finland in a number of areas.
Ambassador Kirsti Narinen thanked for the reception, noting that an Action Plan is currently being developed to clarify the specific areas in which the Armenian-Finnish cooperation can succeed and be mutually beneficial. The Ambassador welcomed the fact that the involvement of women in Armenia in the IT sector is quite high, being above the world average. This is a good result to introduce Armenia to the innovative world in a new way.
Kirsti Narinen noted that the ‘Technology and Innovation’ thematic bloc formed within the framework of the UN ‘Generation of Equality’ forum, the work of which will be directed by the three countries elected as leaders - Armenia, Finland and Tunisia - can be a possible platform for cooperation.
In order to increase the mutual recognition, the parties discussed the possibilities of participation of the companies of the two countries' spheres in the conferences in Armenia, in the exhibitions held in Finland.
An agreement was reached to cooperate in the field of high technologies, cyber security, digitalization, as well as the exchange of successful programs implemented by both sides in the field of technology education and the implementation of joint projects.
